We have heard tales of vampires and then the creation/inspirations of Dracula in Vampire pop culture but there was a time when vampires were in America which was rather common before than the stories that was in europe, altough it's not fantasy but stories of vampires existing has always been an questionable. When we look at Eastern and Baltic culture that are inspired of tales about vampires eating and fleed on human blood. The video from Bedtime stories can talk about how vampires were in america.
You might have heard stories of the headless horseman before a tale of a hosrseman rides a horse and even headless whether he's carrying his head or maybe missing his head.
This folklore first started back in American Folklore in 1820 short story the legend of sleepy hallow from Washington Irving the story would be adapted by Tim Burton's Sleepy Hallow taken the literature in his dark gothic style. It would be adapted into irish scottish and german folklore, it decipted the versions of the headless horseman. Irish Folklore talks of a headless demonic fairly still riding a horse and carrying his head under his arm and use a whip that was made of human corpse when it stops riding and calls out a person's name before dying in another version of the story the headless horseman uses a black carriage, in scottish folklore's talks of a man name ewan decapitated in clan battle at glen cainnir on the isle of mull, german's folklore takes a different apporach to it instead of decapitating the headless horseman would rather killed their victims by touching them and instead of showing gratitude it'll instead killed their victims.
It has remind a popular figure in pop culture it appeared in video games films like Tim Burton's Sleeping hallow, but i guess it still a favorite of halloween culture.
Who remembers Freddy vs Jason that was way better than Batman V Superman where the movie didn't pushed for it's dark gritty and two heroes going up against each other but Freddy vs Jason done it better without it's messy plot sure it's seen as Over the top and maybe being scary and serious, batman v superman however did everything wrong oh wait no not cinemasins screw those morons. Anyways back with Batman v Superman the things that it got wrong with the movie was how it was presented.
Freddy vs Jason talks of how the killer Freddy is seen as a threat as the teenagers are scared of him but seen as a hallucination. Jason shows up at last to scared the teenagers before we see the fight at last and does some cool flashbacks even Jason's Childhood and how it affects him.
Batman v Superman takes elements from The Dark Knight Returns and Death of Superman, now this is where the film takes a messy plot detail with lex luthor who plan the whole thing of Superman and Batman going up against each other, a gang member dies but frame batman of killing him the explosion at the senate or capital building killing the senators. The rest goes on if you seen it or not trust me the film gets so confusing as i watch it before and also Superman demands Batman stop his war on crime but refused as the film drags on we get to see Batman and Superman fight one to another only to feel like it's slow and paste action and don't get me started on the line too. Anyways what i find more interesting about Freddy vs Jason is how the threats are taken serious sure it's a horror genre and now need to survived their worst nightmares. Batman and Superman are just two superheroes who are different and their takes on crime and spread criminals if they should died or not.
Superman also dies like The death of Superman comic book where doomsday and superman fight each other and superman dies. And the film makes it like if he's gone for good and borrow the elements from the comics with The Dark Knight Returns fight scene with Batman in his armor suit and fights Superman and has no line dialogue from the comic that makes a nod to it. Freddy vs Jason is well pasted and i recommended watching it just don't watch dawn of justice.
In richmond vampire virginia there's a tunnel that is name Church hill tunnel and a urban legend of a vampire hiding inside of church hill tunnel. Check this video out too.
The track is on an old chesapeake and ohi railroad, the construction of the tunnel started in 1873 in order to extend the tracks to the old virginia central railroad that is located in the shockoe valley Richmond and connect to peninsula subdivision, virginia peninsula is to reach collis potter huntington's new coal pier in newsport news and is about 75 miles from virginia peninsula.
However there was construction problems with the tunnel richmond's blue marl clay shrink-sweet soil changed from he rainfall and cause a deadly cave-ins due to the groundwater seepage cause this idea to be abandoned in 1925, for a safer alternative to utitlze the new water level for ship coal to the newsport news and avoid the troublesome tunnel.
As construction carried on with the line connecting to south of the new main street station likely with incoming traffic to come off the old virginia center and entering the virginia peninsula subdivision without using the church hill tunnel. Following the completion of the viaduct in 1901 the church hill tunnel fall into disuse efforts to restore when underway, on october 2 a works train was there before getting trapped by a collapse of 150 feet at the west end, ovr 200 workmen had to crawl their way through the flat cars and escaping the east end of the tunnel however fireman benjamin f. mosby died when reaching the grace hospital after suffering burns from the ruptured boiler, engineer thomas joseph morgan was killed, reports said six black laborers were unaccounted, there were numbers of men that was scaled down to two. Richard Lewis and H. Smith were identified as day laborers, the following week the community would watch anxiously as rescue efforts resume and progress was made as further cave-ins and the body of mason was recovered on October 10 despite holding Lewis and Smith were hold unaccounted their bodies were never found. The SCC regulated the state's railroads and ordered the western tunnel to be sealed and left inside of it was the train and ten flat cars. The authorities shut down the line and area for several days while no homes were in the area and what's closer to the tunnel across the church hill the west end remind covered with a concrete plug the east end was used as part of turning wye with connection to southern railway's line to west point is offended entered by venturesome trespassers. These details would be made by Richmond Times-Dispatch reporter Mark Holmberg in 1998 and believed that most portion of the west was not caved in is filled water. Eight years later in June 2006 the Virginia Historical Society and other parties announced plans to recover the train and bodies plus efforts to preserved, the locomotive yet history channel expressed interest of the project but unfortunately when drilling a hole into the tunnel's seal a camera was placed and discovered the tunnel is filled with water and could cause an excavation of the tunnel will collpase, and several homes to get eugulfed of massive sinkholes and the project was on hold.
However at the north of the intersection of E. Franklin Street and N. 31ST Street the western entrance can be seen at the southeast end of 18th street just at the alley off and north of marshall a virginia historical marker was placed at the site in 2012 the floor and area outside is swampy which currently is to this very day, and the end of the tunnel is open with distance. While the tunnel is now sealed but it does have folklore and urban legend, richmond vampire was circulating in 1960s and told of 1800s when the supposedly pool run out of england at that time, later in 1976 student newspaper commonwealth times first published the story. Gregory Maitland urban legend and folklore researcher at the Night shift and the Virginia Ghosts and Haunting Research Society describled a creature was founded by rescue teams with jagged teeth and skin hanging from it's muscular body crouching over their victims and escaped and raced toward the james river and the group of men chased it but before the creature reach the hollywood cemetary and disappeared to the mansoleum bearing the name W.W. Pool. Back with Gregory's story, when the tunnel collapsed in 1925, 28 year old railroad fireman Benjamin F. Mosby was shoveling coal to the firebox of a steam locomotive he had no shirt on when entering the cave which cause the boiler to ruptured and Mosby's body scalded and seven teeth were broken off and trying to reach his way to the tunnel, witness said that they were shocked of his body and hanging from his body, just like what happened as said before he died at Grace Hospital and later buried at Hollywood Cemetery.
