You might have heard stories of the headless horseman before a tale of a hosrseman rides a horse and even headless whether he's carrying his head or maybe missing his head.
This folklore first started back in American Folklore in 1820 short story the legend of sleepy hallow from Washington Irving the story would be adapted by Tim Burton's Sleepy Hallow taken the literature in his dark gothic style. It would be adapted into irish scottish and german folklore, it decipted the versions of the headless horseman. Irish Folklore talks of a headless demonic fairly still riding a horse and carrying his head under his arm and use a whip that was made of human corpse when it stops riding and calls out a person's name before dying in another version of the story the headless horseman uses a black carriage, in scottish folklore's talks of a man name ewan decapitated in clan battle at glen cainnir on the isle of mull, german's folklore takes a different apporach to it instead of decapitating the headless horseman would rather killed their victims by touching them and instead of showing gratitude it'll instead killed their victims.
It has remind a popular figure in pop culture it appeared in video games films like Tim Burton's Sleeping hallow, but i guess it still a favorite of halloween culture.
